Take Earth Day, the idea of living a better, cleaner lifestyle to preserve our planet is a very important thing. We talk about planting trees, driving less, recycling and generally reducing our Carbon Footprint. All those are great things to do and to strive for, but shouldn't we do those things all the time? Isn't it important to live like that everyday and not just focus on those things one day out of the year.
Christmas Day is another great example. Thing of all the people you see smiling and holding doors open for other shoppers, strangers smiling and saying hello to each other as we pass, the festive parties and dinners, the family gathering. Shouldn't we treat each other like that everyday and see family as often as possible?
What about Valentine's Day? Shouldn't we randomly give flowers or candy to our significant other all year to let them know how much they mean to us and that they are thought of? Do we really need a special occasion to be romantic?
This happens to all of us. Even I forget to be kind at times and forget to hold a door open or forget to tell someone how much they mean to me. Let's strive to focus on our own individual core values and try to remember to practice these things all the time and not just on their "Day".
